Transfer Case Fluid Toyota
10172020 I have been going back and forth about what oil to use on my 2018 Tundra transfer case.
Transfer case fluid toyota. Ill put up a separate post for the differential fluids at a later time. The cold level should also be checked yearly. Specifically engineered to reduce friction the chain improves efficiency and helps increase fuel economy.
The Mobil 1 may not have caused this but this is a very expensive fix 2500. They had a shudder issue. 7212020 Toyota transfer case fluid part number 08885-81080 is a 75W viscosity and does not specifically identify with any GL gear lube specification like the older recommended gear oils eg.
Seems like 32k miles is a bit low to be changing fluids on the transfer case. The main reason Toyota chose to update to the 75W transfer case fluid was to improve the vehicles efficiency. 1312017 This means if you put a 75W-90 in your transfer case its viscosity will be over 3 times as thick as what is recommended.
It sends drive power from the engine to the front and rear axles. This is one of the reasons I trade in my 4th gen. 12152019 the transmission fluid is a special fluid.
12242018 Toyota specifies their Genuine Transfer gear oil SAE 75w or equivalent as a proper fluid for the transfer case. 2182017 I just dropped off my 2015 Tundra with 32k miles at a dealership to get serviced and they suggested transfer case fluid change as well as the rear axel. Then you have Ravenol which is a 75w oil but from what I have researched is also quite different from the Toyota fluid when an oil analysis was done.
2152018 AWD transfer case and rear differential fluid can be changed whenever you want. The problem is that this weight of oil is very uncommon. 772017 Shortly after this I started to get a leak at the transfer case actuator.
