Transfer Case Removal
Make sure there is no loss of fluid from the transfer case.
Transfer case removal. Remove the special tool. REMOVE OUTPUT GEAR FROM FRONT CASE. REMOVE FRONT EXTENSION HOUSING.
So we need to remove this. So the transfer case is what selects your four wheel drive or two wheel drive or neutral. Support the transfer case with a suitable transmission jack.
Remove and discard O-ring seal. Lower the skid plate away from the transfer case and remove it from the vehicle. Its secured to the top of the transmission and to the case.
B Using a magnetic finger remove the spring and ball. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the transfer case. REMOVE SCREW PLUG SPRING AND BALL a Using a torx socket wrench T40 remove the screw plug.
Remove both driveshafts transmission crossmember two speed sensor connectors one big connector for t-case motor if not a manual t-case shifter cable for trans depending on how its routed 1 vent tube with clamp 6 15mm nuts that bolt t-case to trans and yes tranny fluid will leak out the back. I cant see why this should be necessary after a quick look under the car but Ive never done it. 212016 The repair manual for the 2006 24L and 35L models claims that the enginetransaxle assembly must be removed from the car before removing the transfer case.
