Students transferring to Dartmouth after their first or second years at other institutions will be allowed a maximum of 17 credits and should be aware that depending on the number of credits approved for transfer they may need to be in residence longer than they might have expected in order to complete their Dartmouth requirements. Most transfer applicants present strong academic credentials so the Admissions Committee also considers your ability to make a successful transition after transferring and to contribute to the life of the Collegein and out of the classroom. Transfer students contribute significantly to the Dartmouth community. The Office of the Registrar will be able to assist with transfer credit questions.

These courses include SPAN 1 2 3 and other upper division courses. Only courses from accredited four-year-degree-granting institutions may be considered for transfer credit No credit is given for internship programs. Courses taken at institutions not holding regional accreditation will be evaluated independently and on a course-by-course basis.

An additional 45 UMass Dartmouth credit hours are required as you work toward a bachelors degree. Retroactive approval is not guaranteed. For example the reading requirements for a typical Dartmouth WGSS course is 7-10 required books per ten week term and a reading packet of 300-500 pages.
